Patches From Jimmy Ballgame

Two posts in a row with Jim Edmonds.  I came home from work yesterday and completely forgot that I had landed a card of the former Cardinals centerfielder sometime last week.  I was actually looking at another card from a seller on Ebay and I always scan their other items.  You never know when you will see something worthwhile and can save a little money with some combined shipping.  This was the case with my latest Jimmy Ballgame.  The original card I was looking at was small potatoes and a single I needed for a set.  Here is the newest Jim Edmonds card in my collection......

I have always really liked the patch cards in UD Premier and have a few others floating around the baseball card boxes in my house.  I really like the patch piece on the right side of the card.  Two colors on a patch is always better than one.

A Trip To Big D's Cards-Part 2

Jimmy from Big D's Card Shop in Raleigh helped me track down a pair of cool cards for my collection while I was off visiting my in-laws in Michigan.  The best part of buying a few cards from my local card shop while I was on the road?  It gave me a great reason to visit the store and check out a few more cards.  My cards from my road trip were set aside and Jimmy had actually sent me a picture of another card that interested me greatly.

While I spend a lot of time collecting Cardinals, Rays, and Durham Bulls players I do dabble in the Tigers a little bit.  As mentioned before, my in-laws are Michiganders and my brother in-law and father in-law are both pretty big Tigers fans.  We talk a little bit of baseball.  I have some good Tigers cards and thought this card looked awesome:

It's just a pretty incredible card.  The tiger patch has to be as good as it gets for a Tigers card, so this card found a home in my collection for the moment.  I was also able to pick up another Topps Tribute card for my Cardinals collection.

2002 Topps Tribute Ozzie Smith Bat Card

I had picked up a Ken Boyer from Topps Tribute in Part 1 and was happy to add the Ozzie to complete my pair of bat cards from the Wizard.  I am going to have to go and check out my checklist of the Cardinals in the Tribute set to see how close I am to having on the relics cards.  In the meantime, I am happy with my most recent trip into Big D's.  I will be heading back next weekend for a Trade Night event Jimmy is hosting at the shop.  Should be fun.  Info below if you live somewhere within driving distance.

2008 UD Premier Brian Roberts Premier Patches Autograph

I discovered Vine over the weekend and have had a lot of fun playing with the short video maker.  I was actually going to use it for work, but in the meantime, I guess I can also use it for baseball card blogging.  First up, my newest card for the day in Vine form.....

Yeah.  So, in non-Vine form that card actually look like this.....

2007 UD Premier Brian Roberts Premier Patches Autograph

This is my second cool card I've picked up of the Orioles second baseman and Durham, North Carolina native.  While Roberts does not appear to be at his past level performance wise, it's pretty cool that the former American-League All-Star is actually healthy enough to contribute to the Orioles season.  Although, he was on paternity leave recently.

This card is from the 2007 Premier set which has some really cool patch cards if you are looking for some fun relics cards to chase down.  I've added a few nice Ozzie Smith cards from the set during the past year and always take a peak in on what's floating around from that set on Ebay and COMC.  Most are low print runs and can be difficult to track down, but there are some very good buys to be found if you stay patient.  This card cost me a total of $8.50 shipped.  Very Nice.

How fast did I post this.....

More Vines later....

2007 UD Premier Ozzie Smith Premier Patches

I spent a little working on my second copy of a 2007 UD Premier Ozzie Smith Patch card.  Last April I picked up a copy of this card in a trade.  At the time I was really excited and considered the card one of my cooler Ozzie cards.  My newest version of this card is equally as sweet as the first.  Well, close.

Just like my first copy, this card is serial numbered out of 78 and features three pieces of patch from a game used Ozzie Smith jersey.  While my first copy has some sweet Cardinals patches, this card has three pieces of Padres jersey.  The first two patch pieces are clearly from the Padres road uniforms from the early eighties.  The background, or polyester, is brown with yellow patches outlined in orange.  The bottom piece is a little hard to tell, but there is a tiny piece of orange on the left hand side of the L.  The seller could not decided if the third piece was a Padres patch, or possibly a piece from the bat on the front of the Cardinals uniform.

106.

Blake Snell number 106 is just a red herring to make two other announcements.      Announcement #1- I have not written very often in this sp...
