Some Minor Cards

It's been really hard to watch the Cardinals this season.  The pitching has been a bit of a disappointment.  The offense has been a bit of a disappointment.  Yes, they are 2 games out of first, but it is just simply because all the other teams in the N.L. Central are also bad.  All the badness makes it difficult to look at Cardinals cards.

I have not touched anything in Pro Debut, so I decided to work on finding a few Cardinals cards from the set.  These are not the Cardinals players that have been disappointing me on a seemingly nightly basis.  I am looking at you Kolten Wong.

I found three new cards.

This is the best of the three cards.  Nolan Gorman was their first round pick last year (2018) and has hit throughout his first year in the Minors.  I am not sure if he is rated as the Cardinals best prospect, but if he is not he will be soon.  His autographs been a little pricy at times, but this one is reasonable.  I have been trying to slowly add a few of his cards, but price is a bit of a factor at this point.

Not sure about Elehuris.  People are crazy about him.  He's only 20.  He's hit everywhere he has played prior to this season.  Elehuris has been injured most of this season, but he's already on the Cardinals Double A team in Springfield.  His Bowman cards have been crazy expensive, but this one was less than $10.  Seems like a good risk.

Last one.

I saw Luken Baker play for the USA Baseball College National Team.  He has a lot of power, and also has a lot of injuries.  Really cheap card, if nothing else I picked up an autograph of a player I watched in person.  If he makes it to the Majors, I will be pleasantly surprised.

So Little Time

Over the past three years I have settled into a routine with my blog posts.  I usually make three posts a week: one on Sunday night/Monday morning, one in the middle of the week, and one on Friday or Saturday.  It all averages out to about 15 posts per month.

This month?

No.

So many other things to do.  However, this morning I made a few minutes to sit down and write about a few of the new cards that have made it into my collection during the past two weeks.  I believe the last new card that I posted was a 2019 Bowman, but I have not shown off any Cardinals or Durham Bulls players.

Honestly, I have not done much to acquire many cards either, but I found two cards from the 2019 Bowman set that I was excited to add.

First, a Durham Bulls player.

Lowe played for the Bulls last season, start this year in Durham, but has been called up to the Rays. He probably needs a little more time in Triple A, but still seems like at least a solid Major League player.

Next.

This is a Nolan Gorman insert on the 1989 Bowman design.  Not the same size as the 1989 Bowman, which were the size of the 1950s Bowman cards, but I have always liked the simplicity of these cards.  This is a nice card, I am not going to put together the whole insert set, but I will at least go out and get a few more of these.

It was a good few minutes.

Y'all Crazy

Last summer the Cardinals drafted Nolan Gorman in the first round out of some high school in Arizona.  He had a good summer in Johnson City with the Cardinals Rookie Ball team, also spent a few weeks with the Peoria Chiefs in A Ball.  Good year, seriously.

The first Nolan Gorman cards in a Cardinals uniform, he was in a few USA Baseball sets, came out late in the fall in Bowman Draft.  I really like Nolan Gorman, I hope he becomes a good player, but y'all are crazy.

Do I want a Nolan Gorman Bowman Draft?  Yes.

Let's see what people have spent on them.

$675?  The guy is in A Ball.  '

$395.  Speechless.

$600 Benjamins.  What the hell?

Listen.  The lawn chairs on my patio are not comfortable enough for me to spend $600 on a baseball card, but if I were going to risk the aftermath of buying one card worth that much money I would go with something from a more proven player.

Look at what $500 on a Stan Musial card buys you.....

That's quality.

Still, I did not give up my dream of owning a Nolan Gorman autograph in a Cardinals uniform.  I need to break out the USA Baseball one for a post one of these nights.  In the meantime, this card cost me an Andrew Jackson.....

and I am not sleeping on a lawn chair on my patio tonight.  This is from the Bowman Best set, so I am not sure what makes this card twenty-some dollars and the cards above $500.  I love collecting baseball cards, but somedays I do not understand people.

106.

Blake Snell number 106 is just a red herring to make two other announcements.      Announcement #1- I have not written very often in this sp...
